Festival tips for Friday, June 7

July 07, 2023, 8:00

The day before the festival’s closing will bring a fairy tale mood. The Princess Bride, an unforgettable classic, will be screened at the Grand Hall from 2:00 p.m. Robin Wright, who portrays the charming Buttercup, will present the film. The American actress is also known for her role of Jenny in Forrest Gump and Mrs Underwood in the House of Cards series. If you want to learn more about her versatile career, come to meet her at the KVIFF Talk with journalist Scott Feinberg held at the Vodafone Lounge of the Thermal Hotel at 12:30 p.m.

You can also meet the other actress to receive the KVIFF President’s Award at Saturday’s closing ceremony – Daniela Kolářová. She will give an interview at the KVIFF.TV Park from 3:00 p.m., where she will talk about her long career. Anna Fialová, a renowned young actress, will attend the evening interview from 7:15 p.m.

Friday further offers a glimpse of young Czech cinema. The FAMU Four programme starts at Cinema B at 5:00 p.m. with a screening of four short films that were received with interest: animated shorts Dede is Dead and Through the Shards, along with two films that found their way from the Czech Republic to Cannes, Electra and The Eighth Day.

To finish the movie day, you can watch a genuine B-movie horror Project Wolf Hunting at the Small Hall in the framework of the Midnight Screenings. The South Korean film naturally contains the indispensable brutal scenes, but it also offers a sophisticated plot and precise art visuals.

Or would you rather take a break from the movies and enjoy some music? The multi-instrumentalist IKON, who was named Musician of the Year 2021 by Reflex magazine, performs at the KVIFF.TV Park from 8:00 p.m. The Chinaski band will storm the stage at Mattoni Life Bar at 9:00 a.m.
