We are now accepting submissions for the rebranded KVIFF Promises 2026. This year introduces the second edition of KVIFF Central Stage, showcasing projects in development, production, or post-production by acclaimed filmmakers, alongside the newly launched Book-to-Screen at KVIFF, dedicated to film adaptation rights. Submissions deadline is April 30, 2026. Presentations will take place during Industry Days at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, from Sunday, July 5 to Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
KVIFF Central Stage is an initiative presented by the KVIFF Film Industry team in collaboration with agencies promoting films across Central Europe.
KVIFF Central Stage highlights the third and subsequent fiction features by established filmmakers from Austria, Czechia, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Ukraine. The showcase will include 1 project from each country in late development, production, or post-production, looking for co-production, sales, distribution, post-production partners, or additional financing.
More information and the entry form can be found on the official KVIFF Central Stage website.
Book-to-Screen at KVIFF is a new project with a long-term goal to create a market for film rights to adaptations of literary works from Central and Eastern Europe, thereby strengthening cooperation between the film and book industries.
Book-to-Screen is presented in co-operation of Film Industry of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Frankfurter Buchmesse, Svět knihy (Book World) and Moravian Library in Brno, with the support of the PPF Foundation. Publishers and literary agencies that own film rights can submit titles with strong film potential to the Book-to-Screen at KVIFF project. In addition to book presentations, the program will also include a panel discussion focused on film adaptations and a networking meeting for all participants.
For more information and to apply, visit the official Book-to-Screen at KVIFF website.
KVIFF Promises 2026 also include KVIFF Talents, a platform supporting bold and innovative approaches in Czech and Slovak cinema and audiovisual work, and Works in Development – Feature Launch & Focus Queer, a development-focused initiative run in collaboration with MIDPOINT Institute.
First-hand brews throughout the year.
