Two enterprising brothers from the Australian boondocks launch a rickety business selling organic fertilizer. But supplies of their fertilizer, whose secret ingredient is squashed-up human bodies, soon begin to run thin. In this critical situation, a trio of juicy hitchhikers appears whose soft flesh may just save the family farm.
Reg and Lindsay, two enterprising brothers living in the picturesque Australian outback, have been hard at work developing an almost suspiciously nutrient-rich fertilizer that has earned them the favor (and dollars) of the local farmers. But making organic fertilizers is an unpredictable business, and supplies of their innovation soon begin to run thin. The situation is all the more critical because their special ingredient is the ground-up remains of traffic accident victims. But they get a gift from heaven in the form of three hitchhikers whom the dim-witted wretch Reg delivers into the clutches of the determined Lindsay. Aware that there aren’t enough dead bodies to go around, he opts for a radical solution to the family’s problem. However, one of the travelers is the beautiful Sophie, whom Reg falls in love with. Will the unfortunate trio’s flesh be tossed into the hungry grinder in the barn, or will the hillbillies get their comeuppance? Find out in this agreeably lighthearted genre piece, a romantic comedy marinated in blood.

Colin Cairnes and Cameron Cairnes, filmmaking brothers from Melbourne, Australia, have made numerous short films that have been screened at festivals throughout the world. Their greatest success so far has been with the short comedy Celestial Avenue (2009), which received numerous awards at smaller festivals and was shown at Slamdance, the prestigious American festival of independent film. Their other works include One Shot Wonder (2001), They Shoot Hostages Don’t They (2002), This Is Melbourne... Wow! (2005) and Beggar’s Belief (2008). In 2008, the Cairnes brothers participated in an Australian Film Commission support program for works in development; the resulting screenplay for 100 Bloody Acres won the main horror award at the prestigious Slamdance Writing Competition.
