Tribute to Ben Rivers
Year: 2014
Streets, houses without windows, excited voices, and someone fleeing – but there’s not a soul in sight, no trace of life. Still, the tension is palpable. A 60-second game of the imagination on a moment in history.
Synopsis
Someone is fleeing down streets lined with windowless houses – or that’s what the soundtrack suggests, since neither the fugitive nor anyone else is anywhere to be seen. Even so, this simple movie provokes tension and inspires interest in a specific event, whose interpretation and construction the film encourages us to ponder. The staged streets could, so to speak, be a model created by a handyman but the representation in the film is too horrifying for that. Even in the span of a mere minute, the interplay of image and sound creates an unexpectedly powerful atmosphere.
