Guerrilla

Forum of Independents - Competition 2015 / Gerilla / Sweden 2015

Young Adam has lost his girlfriend (the mother of his child) but he’d like to win her back. In order to banish his feelings of emptiness, he agrees to help with a controversial project. A love story set in Stockholm during the filming of a feminist movie.

Guerrilla Guerrilla

Synopsis

Young Adam’s girlfriend has left him and he wants to get her back. To this end, he starts helping out on a film project headed by well-known feminist Lara. The pair take to the streets with a small camera in search of interview subjects and come across all sorts of characters whom they question and observe. While their minds are occupied by their film work, what initially seems like a highly improbable relationship begins to develop between them. “Love fuses well with the medium of film,” says debuting director Anders Hazelius. “My generation was drilled with the assumption that we had every opportunity to become whatever we wanted. Then a few years go by and you realise that you weren’t that special after all. And that causes you a lot of anxiety. But instead of shelving your ambitions, you just get more and more extreme. And I got to wondering, how is love supposed to happen when everyone is too busy loving themselves?” states the filmmaker, in a sceptical comment on the culture of social networking and all those “likes.” You can be sure of one thing, though – you won’t see anything of the kind in the unadorned Guerrilla.
