Epic black comedy on Swedish life, manners and mores, intertwining four stories in different locations with overlapping casts.
Synopsis
The feature debut of Swedish comedy group Killingganget, Four Shades of Brown plays like Roy Andersson (Songs from the Second Floor) meets Ulrich Seidl (Dog Days), and the result is a darkly funny, gut-wrenching and disturbing look at a country where people are rootless and real communication seems impossible. Pic breaks down into four separate stories that don´t criss-cross in either time or locale, but in which members of Killingganget each play a couple of roles. Thanks to the engaging stories, mostly very good acting (especially by Robert Gustafsson as a scarred father) and, not least, excellent editing, it never feels over-long. Action jumps effortlessly between the four stories, and one features a surprising final twist. Gunnar Rehlin
