An Academy Award-winning romance. James begins teaching at a school for the deaf. Children of a Lesser God

Synopsis

This Hollywood romance allows viewers a peek into the world of the non-hearing. James begins teaching at a school for the deaf. His well-intentioned belief that they should be taught to speak doesn’t wash with beautiful and intelligent Sarah, who is still at the school as an adult and refuses to conform to the world of the speaking. James has some persuading to do if he is to draw her out of herself, but after falling in love with Sarah, James must learn that if we love someone, we can’t control them. At the age of 21, Marlee Matlin won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance as Sarah, thereby becoming the youngest person to win for a leading role.
