It might seem that Anežka’s life is not her own – her entire family want to get involved in every aspect of it. The young woman tries to please everyone, but she is gradually losing what is most important – herself. This confident debut deftly captures the pitfalls of family life, which are interpreted with humour, understanding and a remarkably mature sense of situations we experience so often that we aren’t even conscious of them.

Synopsis

Young Anežka tries to please everyone, while forgetting about number one – Anežka herself. So it isn’t long before she finds herself facing a difficult task: to be aware of who she is, what she wants, and how to achieve it. The screenplay for scripter Beata Parkanová’s confident debut might have been written by life itself. Well grasped dialogue and a sense of situations that are ostensibly banal yet, each day, are upsetting and also uplifting. Humour and paradoxes, where words of love cause pain and comments about huge thighs make us feel good. All this comes together in a contemporary family film about the moment when it’s time to transform your hurt into strength.
