The second animated feature film to be inspired by Jan Werich’s book of fairytales. It brings together four tales for children young and old, directed by the experienced filmmaker Vlasta Pospíšilová, the highly rated Aurel Klimt and two other directors from different generations – the promising Jan Balej and the seasoned Břetislav Pojar.
Synopsis
This is the second time that Jan Werich’s book of modern fairytales entitled Fimfarum has inspired an animated feature film. Four years after the successful Jan Werich’s Fimfarum (Fimfárum Jana Wericha, 2002), this new film brings together another four stories, with the direction this time shared between the experienced filmmaker Vlasta Pospíšilová, the highly rated Aurel Klimt and two other directors from very different generations – the promising Jan Balej and the seasoned Břetislav Pojar. The story “Uncle, Why Is the Sea Salty?” is about a magic coffee grinder that a poor peasant gets from Lucifer himself. The tale “Three Sisters and One Ring” describes how three sisters compete to see who can play the smartest trick on her husband. The story “The Hunchbacks of Damascus” is the tale of a trio of ugly brothers who finally meet with good fortune. “Little Thumb” tells the colourful tale of a boy who is too small for our great age.
