An intimate Czech drama and a new film by returning Georgian director in the Crystal Globe Competition

July 04, 2022, 10:00

Monday will see two world premieres of films included in the Crystal Globe Competition. The first one, A Room of My Own by Georgian director Ioseb ‘Soso’ Bliadze, whose debut Otar’s Death was acclaimed at last year’s KVIFF, will be screened at 5:00 p.m. at the Grand Hall. The authentic story of two millennials in Tbilisi – one divorced, the other lost in her own relationship – explores the themes of freedom and patriarchal thinking in Georgian society.

The Borders of Love, screened from 8:00 p.m. at the Grand Hall, opens the topic of concealed erotic fantasies. In his feature debut made in a Polish-Czech co-production, the Polish director Tomasz Wiński, based in the Czech Republic, will take you to places that are taboo for many couples. Matyáš Řezníček and Hana Vagnerová, who collaborated on the film’s idea and screenplay, appear in the lead roles of partners exploring uncharted aspects of intimacy. The music was composed by Šimon Holý, who is also competing in the 56th KVIFF in the Proxima section with his film And Then There Was Love...
