Wednesday will also offer a pair of films of the competitors in the Proxima section. The Karlovy Vary Theatre will be showing the film In Broad Daylight from 3:30 p.m. The third film by young Canadian filmmaker Emmanuel Tardif provokes the viewers with the idea of a young girl whose unplanned motherhood is kept secret by her family through complete isolation from the outside world. But this cannot work forever, as the fragile (and somewhat absurd) family system will soon find out. This poetic drama is definitely worth your attention.
Also at the Karlovy Vary Municipal Theatre, at 7:00 p.m., the festival audience can go to Iran. The director Dornaz Hajiha, who gained experience with Iranian greats Asghar Farhadi and Abbas Kiarostami, debuts with a sensitive portrait of a family in which roles and routines must change dramatically: a son suffering from sudden speech loss is to be taken care of by his father instead of his mother. What will be the result of such a fundamental change in a rule-bound social system? Find out in the film Like a Fish on the Moon.
