The Serbian miniseries Absolute 100 will have its world premiere at KVIFF

June 20, 2025, 9:01

The screening schedule of the 59th edition is now available on the festival’s official website.

A notable addition to the Special Screenings section is the Serbian miniseries Absolute 100, which will have its world premiere at the festival – noting a return of the miniseries format to the Special Screenings section after four years. Absolute 100 was created by the renowned filmmaker Srdan Golubović in collaboration with three other directors – his former students. This dynamic thriller with political undertones follows 19-year-old Sonja, a junior champion in sport shooting, who takes justice into her own hands after her family is threatened. KVIFF will screen the miniseries in its entirety, with the creators in attendance.

Over 130 feature films will be screened at the festival. In addition to the previously announced Crystal Globe Competition, Proxima Competition, Special Screenings section, and the John Garfield tribute, the program also includes the traditional Horizons section, showcasing some of the most remarkable contemporary films; the Out of the Past selection, featuring ten classic titles including the works of Stanley Kubrick, Ang Lee, and John Cassavetes; and the Imagina section, presenting over twenty feature-length and short films with unconventional approaches to narration and style — six of them world premieres. The revamped Midnight Screenings section, now called Afterhours, will offer a selection of the latest horror and action films. The Future Frames: Generation NEXT of European Cinema program, now in its eleventh edition, will present ten short films by the upcoming generation of young European filmmakers.
