Actress, producer, and director Kyra Sedgwick and actor, director, producer, and musician Kevin Bacon, together with Travis and Sosie Bacon, will present the film Family Movie at this year's Karlovy Vary festival.
Family Movie, a horror-comedy co-directed by Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, starring their children Travis and Sosie Bacon, had its world premiere at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival, where Variety declared it "a bloody good time" and The Hollywood Reporter praised the film as "sweet and sincere — a celebration of the Bacon-Sedgwick clan's bond and a love letter to their craft."
Kyra Sedgwick is an Emmy Award® and a Golden Globe® award-winning actress, producer and director whose film and television work has captured and defined the zeitgeist. She recently starred alongside Kevin Bacon and Judd Hirsch in the feature film The Best You Can written and directed by Michael J. Weithorn. The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival and premiered on Netflix in December. Sedgwick’s next film, the romantic crime thriller Carolina Caroline directed by Adam Rehmeier premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and will be released by Magnolia Pictures this year. Sedgwick was recently attached to director John Carrol Lynch’s comedy Happy opposite Asa Butterfield and Mark Strong.
Sedgwick and her shingle Big Swing Productions are producing the highly anticipated drama series The Challenger for Amazon’s Prime Video. The limited series will star Kristen Stewart as astronaut Sally Ride. Amblin Television and Stewarts Nevermind Pictures will also produce alongside Big Swing. Sedgwick’s previous directing credits include the feature films Space Oddity starring Kyle Allen and Alexandra Shipp, Story of a Girl, which earned her a DGA Award nomination, and Girls Weekend, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Sedgwick has contributed her directing talents to notable series such as Ray Donovan, City on a Hill, Grace and Frankie, and others. Sedgwick’s work continues to push boundaries, blending her passion for storytelling with a commitment to creating content that inspires and challenges audiences.
Kevin Bacon is one of the foremost actors whose talent for balancing starring roles with powerful supporting characters in film, television and on stage has allowed him to build a varied and critically acclaimed body of work. Kevin’s film credits include Footloose (1984), Tremors (1990), A Few Good Men (1992), The River Wild (1994), Apollo 13 (1995), Mystic River (2003), The Woodsman (2004), Crazy Stupid Love (2011), Black Mass (2015), Patriots Day (2016), Space Oddity (2022) and most recently Leave the World Behind (2023), Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) and MaXXXine (2024).
On the small screen, Kevin starred in the HBO film Taking Chance, for which he won Golden Globe and SAG Awards. For three seasons he starred in the hit Fox series The Following. He starred in Jill Soloway’s Amazon series I Love Dick for which he earned a Golden Globe Award nomination. He also starred in the hit Showtime series, City on a Hill alongside Aldis Hodge for three seasons. In addition to starring in the series, Kevin served as an executive producer and he directed the first episode of the second season. Most recently, Kevin Bacon starred in an executive produced the Blumhouse action horror series The Bondsman, and was seen in the limited Netflix series Sirens with Julianne Moore.
Bacon starred in the Michael J. Weithorn-directed film The Best You Can alongside his wife, Kyra Sedgwick. This marks the first time the couple has starred in a film together in twenty years. In addition to acting, Kevin is one half of The Bacon Brothers band. The band has released twelve albums to date. Kevin founded SixDegrees.org, an organization that encourages people to connect and become a celebrity for their cause by raising money for local and grassroots charities in the United States. As an extension of SixDegrees.org, Kevin launched his own podcast, Six Degrees with Kevin Bacon, where he speaks with celebrities about the causes they care most about. Sosie Bacon is an American actress recognized for her diverse roles in film and television. She gained prominence as Skye Miller in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and further showcased her talent in HBO’s Mare of Easttown. In 2022, she delivered a compelling performance in the psychological horror film Smile, which grossed over $217 million worldwide against a $17 million budget, making it a significant box office success. Sosie starred in and produced the comedy thriller Family Movie alongside her parents, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, and her brother, Travis Bacon. She also wrote, directed and starred in her own short film What We Got Wrong in 2023.
Sosie continues to build a multifaceted career, establishing herself as a versatile and dynamic talent in the entertainment industry. She is set to appear in Cold Storage this year.
Travis Bacon is an actor, filmmaker, and music composer whose creativity bridges performance, storytelling, and music in film. Travis made his first screen appearance as a teenager in Loverboy (2005), directed by Kevin Bacon. In recent years, he has deepened his involvement in cinematic storytelling by composing original scores for films such as Story of a Girl (2017), Space Oddity (2022), Keep Coming Back (2024), 15 to Sunrise (2025), and The Bondsman (2025). Beyond acting and composing, Travis co-founded Slashtag Cinema, a creative production company focused on genre filmmaking, where he writes, shoots, scores, and performs with collaborators. His work through Slashtag reflects a passion for horror and genre cinema.
Travis is the founder and frontman of Contracult, a Los Angeles-based industrial/metal band. Under Travis’s artistic direction, Contracult has released a series of singles and the full-length album ‘The New Torment’ in 2022 and an EP, A Cult of Opposition, in 2020. Contracult is a creative outlet that feeds directly back into his film scoring and production work for Travis. In Family Movie, Travis expands his on-screen presence while contributing his seasoned musical voice to the production’s creative core.
