Time to say goodbye!
But not before one final full day of festival events. Alongside the morning screenings, you can start the day at 11:30 a.m. in the Festival Lounge at Hotel Thermal, where the KVIFF Talk series welcomes the Bacon family – Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick and Travis Bacon – for a conversation moderated by renowned journalist Marta Balaga. The same venue will also host the presentation of the non-statutory jury awards at 3 p.m., including the prize presented by the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).
The KVIFF.TV Park resumes its programme of archive festival reports featuring Miroslav Horníček (11 a.m.), following a one-day break. At 3 p.m., ČEZ, partner of the festival’s bike rental service, will present donation cheques as part of its annual charity initiative, with every kilometre cycled during the festival converted into financial support for charitable causes. A much louder farewell begins at 10 p.m., when DJs Mike Trafic, Nonalis and KaCZena take over the decks with a set spanning electro, '80s dance music and techno, keeping the party going until the early hours.
At 4 p.m., the red carpet will once again come to life as distinguished guests and festival stars arrive for the Closing Ceremony. The winners of both the Crystal Globe Competition and the Proxima Competition will be announced, while the KVIFF President’s Award will be presented to Jeffrey Wright and Magda Vášáryová. Juliette Binoche will receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema. This year’s closing film is the melancholic fresco The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, which will screen at 9 p.m. in the Small Hall.
