A Night in Tokoriki

Future Frames: Ten New Filmmakers To Follow 2016 / O noapte în Tokoriki / Romania 2016

Geanina is celebrating her birthday and there is no indication that anything is about to fundamentally disrupt this evening with her boyfriend, family, and friends. Disco hits function as the soundtrack, while also providing commentary on the little love tragedy playing out at the Disco Tokoriki celebration.

A Night in Tokoriki A Night in Tokoriki

Synopsis

A lot is happening at Disco Tokoriki tonight. Geanina is celebrating her 18th birthday, and it seems as if the neon lights are shining just for her and her boyfriend. The DJ plays the biggest hits, bodies undulate to the rhythms of disco, the fun is flowing fast, and Alin arrives to help her celebrate, armed with presents, a generous dollop of hair gel, and a group of good friends. Nothing indicates that a surprise awaits, one that no one will ever forget. This black comedy farce doesn’t need dialogue – hit disco lyrics will suffice, telling us everything about Tokoriki’s little love tragedy that we need to know.
