Eva Zaoralová and Jiří Bartoška celebrated the launch on Monday of a new publication about the history of KVIFF called The Story of the Festival. “To some extent, this book came about as a personal impulse. I imagined a small guide to each annual festival, good and bad. I first experienced the festival as a journalist in 1970, which was a bad year indeed,” said Eva Zaoralová, the current artistic consultant for the festival and the book’s author. “Like Miroslav Janek in his Film Spa, I tried to make the book more than just a boring list,” she added.
During the ceremony, Zaoralová also thanked Jiří Bartoška, without whom, she said, she would not have been involved in organizing the festival for so long. In return, the president of KVIFF thanked her and other fellow workers, including the volunteers. The Story of the Festival, illustrated with many photographs, can now be purchased in the festival store.
