Czech director and musician Šimon Holý is in the running in this year’s East of the West competition at KVIFF with his debut Mirrors in the Dark. Holý, who is the film’s director, producer, music composer and producer in one, says its plot was inspired by a real event in his own personal life. He also explains why he opted to film in black and white, why he was so sure his lead actress was right for the part and why a story set in the world of dance contains references to female heroines from stage dramas.
First-hand brews throughout the year.
