Festival tips for Friday 8 July

July 08, 2022, 8:00

The competition sections have already played all their trump cards, but there are still two more festival days to come. There will be no shortage of opportunities to meet filmmakers, as three prominent festival guests are going to present their popular films. First, Benicio Del Toro will appear in the Grand Hall at 1:00 p.m. to present Traffic. At 4:00 p.m., Geoffrey Rush will present Quills in the Karlovy Vary Municipal Theatre. Both guests will also stay for a discussion with the audience after the screening. Finally, you can look forward to the entire delegation for the Czech film Forgotten Light at 5:00 p.m. in the Grand Hall.

We would also like to invite you to an exclusive KVIFF Talk with Tim Sutton. The Brooklyn director and screenwriter brought to the festival his latest film In the Taurus, in which the main character is portrayed by the current star of the rap scene, Machine Gun Kelly. Sutton is one of the most interesting independent filmmakers today. In an interview with Czech director and publicist Šimon Holý he will talk about his work in the context of the American indie scene and its rules and production regularities. KVIFF Talk starts at 2:20 p.m. at Vodafone Lounge.

The Meet & Greet project in our KVIFF.TV Park gives you the chance to chat with the makers of the Crystal Globe competition films that were presented yesterday. Representatives from the film Summer with Hope will be there from 1:15 p.m., and a discussion with the makers of You Have to Come and See It will start at 4:00 p.m.

You can also visit the festival zones on the colonnade. The Vodafone Relax Zone hosts a daily an animation lesson, and on Friday it will start at 2:30 p.m. You can watch the resulting animated films and other movies at the Vodafone TV outdoor cinema. The Rohlík Zone serves drinks and farm-sourced food every day, and the adjacent Rohlíček Zone offers a children’s crèche and entertainments. And of course, you can also pick up your shopping at Rohlik Point.

At the innogy point you can have a go at a movie quiz and dubbing, recharge your mobile phone or tablet, and get some free ice cream to boot. And in the evening, you can see and hear the singer Lenny: at 7:00 p.m. at the Mattoni Life Bar u Vřídla.
