Programme tips for Wednesday, July 5

July 05, 2023, 8:00

We are in the middle of the Karlovy Vary film ride! After hours spent in cinemas, a little exercise is recommended. You can stretch your muscles in free yoga classes held every day in the Vodafone Relax Zone between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.

As for the Wednesday’s offer of films, the eagerly awaited Anatomy of a Fall will be screened at the Grand Hall at 1:30 p.m. Justine Triet’s incisive courtroom drama won the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The KVIFF.TV Park programme for Wednesday offers the viewers another chance to meet the filmmakers. The regularly held Meet & Greet will present the authors of the Scandinavian film The Hypnosis at 1:15 p.m., and the delegates of the art thriller Red Rooms at 4:30 p.m. Both films entered the Crystal Globe Competition yesterday.

At 3:00 p.m., an unconventional fashion show with an inclusive twist titled “Beauty will be beauty, sitting or standing” will take place at the Mill Colonnade. The event is brought to Karlovy Vary by the No Barriers project, which has been making the festival accessible to people with disabilities for 23 years. It has been instrumental in making the cinema halls barrier-free and has been helping the festival-goers find accommodation, parking and other services. It also offers assistance services, arranges tickets and free transport for the guests and their escorts.

With the night approaching, atmosphere in the Small Hall will tense up. As part of Special Screenings, a dark comedy with elements of horror, She Came at Night, directed by Jan Vejnar and Tomáš Pavlíček, will be presented at 9:00 p.m. You can talk more about the story of a mother who disrupts the quiet life of a young couple with the filmmakers during a discussion following this world premiere.

There will be no shortage of concerts either. Gaia Mesiah will take the stage at the Czech Television House at 7:30 p.m., and Midi Lidi will start at 10:00 p.m. at the Mattoni Life Bar. The KVIFF.TV Park will turn into an electrifying dance floor from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. overseen by an array of talented DJs.
