Festival tips for Saturday 4 July

July 04, 2026, 8:00

At 11 a.m., before introducing The Double, director and actor Jesse Eisenberg will receive the President’s Award on the Grand Hall stage. He will then meet the public at 5 p.m. for his KVIFF Talk in the Festival Lounge at Hotel Thermal.

Dustin Hoffman received his award yesterday at the opening ceremony. Today, he will present the coming-of-age classic The Graduate in the Grand Hall at 2 p.m. At 5 p.m., this year’s Crystal Globe Competition gets underway with the Czech entry Chica Checa. At 7:30 p.m., the filmmakers behind A Happy Family will attend the world premiere of the first-ever Swiss film selected for Karlovy Vary’s Crystal Globe Competition. The Grand Hall programme concludes at 10:30 p.m. with The Bride!, introduced by director Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Today’s Special Screenings section showcases two dynamic Czech projects. The delegation behind the unconventional fairy tale Gregorius, the Chosen One will attend its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary Theatre at 1 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., the Small Hall hosts the exclusive preview screening of Czech Television’s miniseries Filter, which explores the complexities of high-school relationships, followed by a discussion with the delegation.

Throughout the festival, the official non-profit partner, the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97, will host a stand on T. G. Masaryk Street opposite the post office. The venue, which will feature cultural events and public discussions, officially opens today at 1 p.m.

The evening’s concert programme once again promises plenty of live music. Czech pop-rap group ATMO Music takes to the Mattoni Life Bar stage at 6 p.m., followed by David Koller at 10 p.m. Over at KVIFF.TV Park, acclaimed rapper James Cole will close the night with a performance starting at 11 p.m.

The full concert schedule and accompanying programme can be found here.
