About the director

Diederik van Rooijen (b. 1975, the Netherlands) grew up partly in Greece and in the United States. He graduated from the Dutch Film Academy in 2001. Diederik went on directing short films: A Funeral for Mr. Smithee, Babyphoned (NPS prize for Best Short Film 2002), Mass, The Messenger and Dummy. His first feature film Zulaika played in theatres in the Netherlands and is now on a worldwide tour. Diederik van Rooijen is also a prolific and successful TV and commercials director.
