Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Hanna grew up in the wilds of Finland; her only companion was her father Erik. An ex-CIA agent, Erik has trained the girl as the perfect assassin, combining strength, courage, stamina and intelligence. When Hanna feels that she is as prepared as she’ll ever be, her father sends her on a mission whose objective is to exact retribution against former colleague Marissa Wiegler, now a highly-placed CIA operative. The tough and ruthless professional, who once fundamentally influenced Hanna’s destiny, sets out with her deadly commando in pursuit of the girl; the latter, however, is no helpless victim by any means. As the chase moves away from the North African wilderness into Europe, Hanna begins to uncover the mystery of her own existence. Will she be able to fight for her right to self-determination and a normal life? In an all-star cast, Joe Wright’s psychological thriller is dominated by the excellent lead, Saoirse Ronan, who received an Oscar nomination for her performance in Wright’s film Atonement (2007).
