Twenty-five-year-old Elsa, like tens of thousands of other Argentinians, would rather leave the country: ideally to visit the young Italian she met in Buenos Aires some time ago. But Italy turns out to be very different from the country of her dreams.

Synopsis

Twenty-five-year-old Elsa lives in today’s Buenos Aires, a city of unrest, unemployment and poverty. She struggles to make ends meet with casual work. But like tens of thousands of other Argentinians, she would rather leave the country to escape the hopelessness and go as far away as possible: ideally to see the young Italian she met in Buenos Aires some time ago. Together with her friends, Laura, Walter and Toni, Elsa wanders around looking for ways to make money, even on the black market, if necessary. Walter, with whom she starts an affair, finally finds a way for her to travel to Europe. But Italy turns out to be very different from the country of her dreams.
