Festival tips for Monday, 3 July

July 03, 2023, 8:00

Make sure to find the best seat in the cinema for you can easily spend there the entire fourth day of the festival. The day will start with the screening of Perfect Days at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude more than 15 hours later with the midnight screening of In My Mother’s Skin. On top of that, actor and director Vincent Perez will present his film The Edge of the Blade at 11:00 a.m. at Grand Hall.

If you want to see films from a purely female perspective, we recommend heading to KVIFF.TV Park at 11:00 a.m. for a live recording of the Girls On Film podcast hosted by film critic Anna Smith. The podcast discussion will include film critics Wendy Ide and Marya E Gates, as well as producer Elaheh Nobakht and director Negin Ahmadi, the women behind The Dream’s Gate, and Myriam Sassine, producer of Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano. The KVIFF Talk starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Congress Hall will introduce you to the legendary producer and prominent figure of American independent cinema Christine Vachon, who contributed to such films as Boys Don’t Cry, Dark Waters, An American Crime and One Hour Photo. She will be talking about her rich career, as well as the contemporary independent film, with the host Mike Fleming.

On Monday, you can also meet the Czech filmmakers. At 4:00 p.m. at the KVIFF.TV Park, you can meet the creators of the competition film A Sensitive Person, based on the book of the same title by Jáchym Topol. Just one hour later, the Czech Television House will present the filmmakers behind the adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s novel Snake Gas. The premiere of sci-fi film Restore Point, which will be introduced by its delegation at the Grand Hall at 10:30 p.m., is going to be yet another closely watched event of the day.

If you decide to stay a bit longer in the red-black heart of the festival’s accompanying programme, we recommend the debate called Urbis futura or how to develop cities and regions, which starts at 4:45 p.m. at the KVIFF.TV Park and will deal with the A to Z of urban architecture. Actor Patrik Děrgel will test his knowledge in a quiz at 6:30 p.m., while our great DJs will take charge of entertainment during the night hours.

You can also dance or sing at several other venues. Other musical options of the evening include a recital by Dasha & Martin Kumžák’s trio starting at 6:30 p.m. at innogy Point, a concert of Jan Smigmator and his band at 7:00 p.m. at ORLEN Stop Cafe or a show of the notorious Tata Bojs at Mattoni Life Bar at 9:00 p.m.
