Nicolás Celis

Mexican producer, a key figure of Latin America’s film industry. He was involved as a producer in the Oscar-winning Roma (Alfonso Cuarón) and he has produced works by renowned Mexican filmmakers Tatiana Huezo, Amat Escalante and Alfonso Cuarón. He has also worked on international co-productions for directors such as Jacques Audiard and Diego Lerman. He is a member of the Mexican and American Academies of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the Producers Guild of America. 

Babak Jalali

Iranian-British director, screenwriter and producer. His short film Heydar, an Afghan in Tehran gained a BAFTA nomination in 2006. He debuted with the feature film Frontier Blues, screened at the festival in Locarno (2009). His ​second feature Radio Dreams (2016) won the Tiger Award at Rotterdam; his third feature, the drama Land, premiered at the Berlinale two years later. After its world premiere at Sundance in 2023, his film Fremont won Best Director at Karlovy Vary that same year, subsequently receiving the John Cassavetes Award at the Independent Spirit Awards.

Jessica Kiang

Film critic, essayist and programmer with bylines in Variety, Sight & Sound, Criterion, Mubi, The New York Times, The LA Times, The Washington Post, Film Comment and Rolling Stone, among other outlets. She was twice a mentor with the Melbourne Film Festival Critics' Campus, and for three years she was the International Programmer of the Belfast Film Festival. She is now also a member of the selection committee of the Berlinale.

Jiří Mádl

One of the Czech Republic’s most popular actors, now also established as a screenwriter and director. He took away his first Crystal Globe from KVIFF in 2008 for Best Actor in the film Night Owls. He gave a memorable performance in Four Suns (premiered at Sundance in 2012), and he appeared in The Wolf from Royal Vineyard Street (KVIFF 2016). He debuted as a director in 2014 with To See the Sea, which was followed five years later by the successful drama On the Roof. His third directorial effort Waves won the Audience Award at KVIFF 2024 and was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.


Tuva Novotny

One of the most prominent and successful actresses in the Nordics today. She has worked with such filmmakers as Lars von Trier (The Kingdom), Bent Hamer (The Middle Man), Alex Garland (Annihilation) and Tobias Lindholm (A War). She gave her debut in feature film with Daniel Alfredsson's Tic Tac (1997), and she was also cast by the likes of Simon Staho (Day and Night), Ryan Murphy (Eat, Pray, Love) and Janus Metz (Borg/McEnroe). Her writing/directing debut Blind Spot (2018) premiered in San Sebastian IFF’s Official Selection. Pernilla August was outstanding in her drama Britt-Marie Was Here (2019), while her dramedy Diorama followed three years later. This autumn sees the arrival in cinemas of Paprika Steen's new film The New Year, in which Tuva appears in the lead role.
