We’ve reached the halfway point of the festival. Today’s diverse programme includes the highly anticipated world premiere of A Pint of Ink, Ester Geislerová’s deeply personal documentary portrait of her father. The director and her team will present the film at the Karlovy Vary Theatre at 1 p.m.
The Grand Hall will swing to the rhythm of jazz with the biographical drama Everybody Digs Bill Evans (2 p.m.), presented by the film’s delegation. Later, as tradition dictates, the festival’s biggest screen will host two Crystal Globe Competition titles: Five Years, Four Months (5 p.m.), a delicate story about Colombian women searching for their missing loved ones, followed by 3 Weeks After (8 p.m.), a drama exploring violence within a school community.
Take the plunge with Learning To Breathe Under Water at the Čas Cinema (6 p.m.), where the film will be presented by its filmmakers. Later at the same venue (9 p.m.), the documentary Igor and After, a portrait of an eccentric artist, screens with its crew in attendance. Meanwhile, director Zdeněk Tyc returns to filmmaking with his new feature City of Fathers, screening at the Pupp Cinema (7 p.m.).
And what’s happening at the KVIFF.TV Park today? At Meet & Greet, you can chat with the teams behind yesterday’s Crystal Globe Competition films: Black Money for White Nights (1:30 p.m.) and The Lion at My Back (4 p.m.).
Following the premiere of the documentary, Bára Basiková will extend her stay in Karlovy Vary with a concert at the Mattoni Life Bar at 6 p.m., before multi-genre performer REDZED takes over the stage at 10 p.m.
