Oliver Stone: In the context of modern cinematography, director Oliver Stone is a figure who has eluded the traditional standards of evaluation. The director of Platoon and many other films received the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema at the festival.

The festival juries awarded the best films of the 48th Karlovy Vary IFF on July 6, 2013. The awards were conferred during the closing ceremony.
