July 08, 2026, 8:00

Following its award-winning presentation at the Berlinale, the creators of the film If Pigeons Turned to Gold bring their documentary to Karlovy Vary. It will screen at the Grand Hall at 11 a.m. Two Crystal Globe Competition world premieres follow later with their creative teams in attendance: Pipes (5 p.m.) and an intricate web of family relationships titled Hijamat (8 p.m.).

Two independent Czech films will also celebrate their world premieres. The experimental A Report for Minerva 2 explores the power of amateur theatre (Small Hall, 3 p.m.), while Everything As It Should Be, directed by Bohdan Karásek, opens up questions of middle age (Pupp, 7 p.m.).

David Chase, one of the defining creators of television’s golden age and the mastermind behind the landmark family and mafia saga The Sopranos, will reflect on his remarkable career and creative approach at the Kaiserbad (12:15 p.m.). The Czech Television House will offer a discussion with the filmmakers behind two Czech documentaries: Bára - Diary of a Rockstar (3 p.m.) and A Pint of Ink (5 p.m.).

The talk show for the film Bára - Diary of a Rockstar will also be hosted by innogy Point today. You can look forward to seeing the lead actress and director Helena Třeštíková there starting at 1 p.m.

The Mill Colonnade will host the Cinema Without Barriers event at 2 p.m., featuring members of the Prague Wheelchair Sports Club and actor Oskar Hes.

It wouldn’t be a morning at KVIFF.TV Park without another selection of Miroslav Horníček's classic festival reports (11 a.m.). Today’s Meet & Greet sessions will feature the creative teams behind two films with numbers in their titles: Five Years, Four Months (1:30 p.m.) and 3 Weeks After (4 p.m.). Petr Uhlík will open the KVIFF X Space (2:30 p.m.). Test your film knowledge at the KVIFF.TV quiz (6:30 p.m.). Have you ever wondered how a radio programme comes together? Jan Pokorný, Libor Bouček and Pavel Horváth will take you behind the scenes at 7:05 p.m. The day’s programme concludes with a performance by Marie April, the winner of the Anděl Award for Discovery of the Year, at 10 p.m.

At 9 p.m., the alternative rock band Mňága a Žďorp will remind audiences at the Mattoni Life Bar that the “world is just a love hotel”.
