Festival Tips for Tuesday, 8 July.

July 08, 2025, 8:00

The festival enters its second half. The day in the Grand Hall begins at 11:00 a.m. with the European premiere of Promise, I'll Be Fine, introduced by a delegation of filmmakers. At 2:00 p.m., they’ll make way for the team behind the world premiere of Summer School, 2001; later, at 5:00 p.m., both delegations will head to the Czech Television House for a discussion with audiences. The evening will traditionally feature the premieres of two competition films: Rebuilding (5:00 p.m.) and When a River Becomes the Sea (8:00 p.m.). The Karlovy Vary Theatre will also host two world premieres from the Proxima competition: Renovation at 4:00 p.m. and They Come Out of Margo at 7:00 p.m.

As part of a tribute to Jiří Bartoška, director Radek Bajgar will present the audience favourite Tiger Theory at 1:45 p.m. in the Congress Hall. At Čas Cinema, French director Laurent Slama will introduce his new film A Second Life and take questions from the audience (9:00 p.m.). If you’re in the mood for discussion earlier in the day, head to innogy Point at 1:00 p.m. for a talk about Broken Voices. Stick around for a special live recital by Adam Mišík at 7:00 p.m.

Your go-to hub for the festival’s accompanying program, KVIFF.TV Park, kicks off the day with a Meet & Greet featuring the creators of two competition films that premiered yesterday: The Visitor (11:30 a.m.) and Jimmy Jaguar (1:30 p.m.). From 3:00 p.m., the spotlight turns to actors Ivan Trojan and Hynek Čermák in the KVIFF X space. At 4:00 p.m., don’t miss the KVIFF Talk about the biopic Duchoň. At 5:39 p.m., Nasty and Vojtaano bring their signature blend of quirky humour to KVIFF Comedy LIVE. Then, at 6:30 p.m., it’s time to put your film knowledge to the test in the daily KVIFF.TV quiz, with valuable prizes up for grabs.

Wrap up the day with a concert at the Mattoni Life Bar, where Lenka Dusilová Band will take the stage at 9:00 p.m. The complete accompanying programme is available here.
